Dear Journal,
My experience under the command of King Alexander has been great so far. I have been with his army since the beginning. I was just thinking back to the first victory, when Alexander
seized the Persian empire in Asia minor. At that time my opinion of him was good, I liked how he treated the Persians when he took control.

Later on, we attacked Tyre and won after a seven month period. We were lucky the persians joined us with ships so we could attack Tyre's navy. After the defeat, Alexander sold the women and children into slavery. This made me re-think what I was doing to these families, but I pushed the thoughts aside.

A few years pressed on and we kept fighting. After Alexander was named Pharaoh of Egypt, Alexander won the battle of Gaugamela. During this time, Alexander held Darius' family hostage. This thought was a bit unsettling until I discovered that they were not being tortured, they were actually being treated well. He then proclaimed himself "Lord of Asia". He inspired me after conquering all these different places, and it made me want to be as determined as him.

Alexander's war tactics are different than other types I've encountered. He uses simple strategies with the element of surprise. Also, his armies are huge! In the battle of Guagamela, I fought along side 40,000 other men.

In my eyes, Alexander's bravery and determination is what makes him so great. What he physically received was not what made him great, but the morals and mental accomplishments are what shows his true greatness.

  1. I like how you included the war tactics into the blog post. I also like the amount of detail in each paragraph. I agree on how Alexander's determination led him to be so great!
